Validamycin A is an antifungal aminoglycoside antibiotic and the major validamycin produced by Streptomyces hygroscopicus which is widely used for the control of sheath blight of rice. It acts as an alpha,alpha-trehalose phosphorylase inhibitor, an alpha,alpha-trehalose phosphorylase inhibitor, an alpha,alpha-trehalase inhibitor. It also showed strong tyrosinase inhibition in a dose-dependent manner, (with half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 19.23±0.26mmol/L).
